“It’s a true privilege to proudly host this magnificent salute to our hometown team that has earned history,” said Mayor Turner. “As we bounce back from Hurricane Harvey, we are more than ready to welcome our heroes home in proper form.”

In 2014, Sports Illustrated said that because of the way the Astros put together their team, they would win the 2017 World Series. The Astros defeated the Dodgers in the deciding seventh game of the World Series, winning the first championship in franchise history. This is the true definition of #EarnedHistory

The city of Houston celebrated the team’s accomplishment during the afternoon of November 3, 2017. There was a parade in their honor, and the festivities included a large balloon depicting a baseball, cheerleaders and the animated participation by Orbit. Houston’s Independent School District gave the students and teachers the day off to watch the parade.
