Two were killed and four others were injured in a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Houston Sunday evening, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A 31-year-old man was killed, as well as 32-year-old Christopher Beatty. Multiple neighbors have confirmed that one of the injured victims is Brandy Rusher, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model. We’ve confirmed the model’s in critical condition in intensive care.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the injured include a 32-year-old woman, a 47-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man. They are all gunshot victims and are listed in critical condition.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at the Haverstock Hills Apartments in the 5600 block of Aldine Bender Road.

Deputies said there was an argument between some upstairs and downstairs neighbors. A few minutes after the argument, investigators learned a black man drove on the property in a white four-door vehicle. Two black men got out of the car and began to argue with the victims. One of the suspects walked to the trunk of the car and pulled out an semi-automatic assault rifle.

“We do know it was an AR-style rifle, an AK type or an AR 15. Multiple rounds were fired, 15 to 18 rounds were fired at the group of individuals,” HCSO Deputy Thomas Gilliland said.

“I heard the first round and just took off running,” said neighbor Tonya Brooks. “Whoa! And you could hear, I could hear those shells dropping to the ground. He, he, he just shot them down like puppies in the street.”

There was a deputy stationed and on duty at the complex when the shooting happened.

“For the children’s sake, I’m willing to rally and protest,” said Brooks who is a grandmother to two young boys.

Deputies are currently looking for three men that pulled up in the white car. The suspects are described as heavy-set black men in their early 30’s.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and/or arrest of the suspects in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Community leaders said the area is prone to violence.

“I’m just frustrated at the fact that here it is again at Haverstock Apartments,” Edward Buford, senior pastor at Sunrise Community Church, said. “There needs to be more focus on places like this. There needs to be more money for ministries that are willing to be here Monday through Saturday and not just on Sunday.”
