$100Million HIV Research Study Initiative Announced By President Obama
At the National Institutes of Health on World AIDS Day, President Obama announced a new initiative underway to find a cure for HIV. It has been estimated that 2.3 million people were newly infected with HIV last year and 1.6 million people died of AIDS. The administration is vesting $100 million toward this research project to eliminate HIV or put it in remission without lifelong therapy. President Obama says that the United States should be at the forefront of such discoveries.
“It’s time for the world to come together to set new goals.”
“We will begin to turn the tide of this epidemic together,” President Obama confidently stated.
